ABOUT

Completed in 1990, this leading edge, environmentally friendly swimming facility on the St. Lawrence River was conceived to provide Montrealers with a natural swimming experience. The park covers sixty acres and features seven hundred metres of sandy beach and several acres of lake water. Green space is also offered for picnicking and beach volleyball.

Ecological processes found in nature to clean and filter water were recreated onsite. Filtration ponds containing more than 100,000 aquatic plants are used to filter the water from the swimming area instead of chlorine and other chemicals. This water is then clean enough to be returned into the river.
